London’s Canary Wharf will stage a major Bangladesh trade show in September.
The aim is to improve economic cooperation between the country and the UK as well as promoting Bangladesh as an attractive tourism destination.
Destination Bangladesh Expo 2011 will take place over two days on Friday 16 September and Saturday 17 September, and is expected to attract around 5,000 visitors.
Organised by Mahua Events, the show has already won the support of the UK’s first Bangladeshi MP, Rushanara Ali, who represents Bethnal Green and Bow.
He said: “Having been born in Bangladesh and spending my early childhood there before moving to London, I passionately support any initiative that further promotes good relations between the UK and Bangladesh.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the rich and varied offering of the Bangladeshi business community in front of investors and buyers within the UK.
“There are some really exciting exhibitors showcasing a hugely diverse range of products – from textiles to telecoms. The first ever Bangladesh Expo promises to be a really engaging and worthwhile event.”
The event will showcase products and services from around 50 exhibitors, including textiles, telecoms and call centres, pharmaceuticals, tourism and hospitality, real estate and property, food manufacturing and exporters, education, financial institutions, furniture and handicrafts, and NGOs/micro credit groups.
